Let’s discuss your mission

USE CASE / ACOUSTIC BUOYS & RF LINK

Test the signal
through to the receiving system.

An acoustic buoy transmits information to a receiver and a processing chain. The requirement is to verify that radio transport preserves useful information, then select the resources needed for the trial area.

THE FUNCTION TO PRESERVE

Qualify the transport
and the received result.

OndOcéan proposes a preliminary radio study, relay selection and placement, interface integration and the trial plan. The source, receiver and reference processing are identified with the client.

  1. 01Reference source

Buoy or simulator defined for the trial.

  2. 02Radio transmission

    Signal and interface to transport.

  3. 03Link & relay

Direct path or elevated relay site to compare.

  4. 04Reception & processing

    Result compared with the reference.

Before the study
Specify the radio band, whether the stream is analogue or digital, the interfaces, positions and expected reception result.
OndOcéan scope
Coverage, transport boundary, relay, interfaces and trials. Development of the complete simulator or acoustic processing requires a separate scope agreed with the client.

EVIDENCE TO PRODUCE

Measure what supports
a decision.

The scenario is at the proposal stage. Criteria are agreed before the trial; results are then tied to the configuration, location and conditions actually tested.

Questions, expected evidence and decisions
QuestionExpected evidenceDecision
Does the stream remain usable?Compare the result after transport with the reference chain. When DIFAR processing is used, its result is included in this comparison.Validate the transport boundary and interfaces.
Does the link hold across the area?Coverage, received signal and availability measurements. Useful throughput, latency and losses are recorded when transport is digital.Identify gaps and operating conditions.
Which relay provides a useful improvement?Compare the direct path with the positions, heights and supporting platforms selected in the trial plan.Select a configuration sufficient for the scenario.

A PACKAGE FOR THE NEXT STEP

Deliverables defined
before work begins.

A preliminary study can form the first project. Integration and the trial campaign are quoted according to the interfaces and resources available.

01

Demonstration architecture

Functional chain, transport boundary, interfaces and reference configuration.

02

Coverage study

Calculation assumptions, candidate configurations, relay height and position.

03

Instrumented trial plan

Scenarios, measurement points, data acquisition and acceptance criteria.

04

Report & recommendation

When a trial is commissioned: observed results, limits and recommended architecture.

FROM BENCH TO FIELD

Prepare deployment
with the operator.

The reference bench and the quayside or offshore area are defined with the client. Relay height is selected based on the study and site constraints.

Reference bench
Accessible source and receiver, identified interfaces, planned power supply and data acquisition.
Trial area
Documented positions or route, antenna locations, access to measurement points and operating conditions.
Relay platform
An existing mast or elevated site is assessed first. A Méduse tethered balloon can be studied according to payload, power supply, anchoring and site conditions.
Equipment & compliance
Models, instructions and compliance documents for the selected equipment are checked against the project’s band and use.

DEFINE THE FIRST STEP

Which chain do you want to test?

Specify the source, receiver, result to preserve and proposed trial area. These elements help define the preliminary study and the resources needed.
